The Maggiej was built at Mahurangi River, Warkworth NZ and launched in 2001. The maggiej has enjoyed many successful fishing charters over the years.

Maggiej is based at Leigh and T Point. Leigh is an undiscovered part of the world and close to Auckland (60 mins north of Albany) and close neighbour to the Goat Island Marine Reserve.

The Maggiej skipper Stephen Lowe is a specialist in Game Fishing, Hapuka, Kingy’s and snapper and works hard to ensure your charter meets your expectations. You learn a lot too..

Stephen holds a - Full NZ Coastal Masters so there are not many places the Maggiej can’t go… Importantly - A full NZ Coastal Survey enables the Maggiej to go deep into the Hapuka, KIngi's and Blue Nose fishing grounds.

Stephen is a passionate fisherman and has worked in the fishing industry for 30 years in the waters you’ll be fishing.

When Stephen commissioned the boat it was designed to be both a commercial fishing and charter boat. Stephen ensured the Maggiej could be modified into a Charter/Game Fish boat at any time. This ensures he can follow his Game Fishing passion.

The Maggiej and Stephen have entered into the Whangaroa Game Fishing competition held each year in February for the last four years. In Feb 09 they won the commercial section and were 5^th overall. They also won the commercial section in Feb 07.

Louise is the Maggiej online deckhand. Meaning Louise manages the on land side of the business she manages email communication, phone calls, organising bookings and ensures you have all you need when you get onboard.

The Maggiej speialises in game fishing and enjoys putting game fishing trips together in February and March. The best trips are generally for 3 - 4 nights long. Enjoy the thrill of game fishing with Steve and share his passion.

The Maggiej also offer sightseeing day trips customised to your group requirement. We are flexible.

Maggiej Charters offers daily trips departing from Leigh at 8am returning at 5pm to over nighters departing Leigh at 8am and always returning to Leigh at 5pm. NB: When fishing for Hapuka and Blue Nose the most successful trips are overnight.
